Saying one is willing to talk versus saying one has already conceded one's position are two very different things.

Except they pretty much said they should be regulated:

"The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations"

That's about as explicitly saying they should be regulated as it can get.

Even this:
"Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law."

Basically, to paraphrase:
"We know they've been determined as legal, twice, but re-scrutinize them again."

Why? Because:

"The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations"

Yeah, they earned their roasting and burnt up phone lines.

For the many detractors of the NRA--please take the time to detail everything you have done to further gun rights in this country right here in this thread, and we'll see how your record compares to that of the NRA.

Fire up the grille, they're on the way! Might cost more than $350 million a year to feed them all, though. But you asked for 'em.
Lol, no , no , no fight the short game it will work .....I swear it will....fight about this law, and that accessory while the socialists add 4 to their ranks while we add 1, great plan please let my son know how it turns out because I have already let him know what will happen 20 years from now (and that’s if we are lucky)

Yep. I, too, fear for the future of gun owners in the coming years. The teeth-gnashers will all say then that it started with the bump stock ban.
