Optic advice

After tomorrow I will have my first AR. I was going to mount my cheap red dot that is on my 10/22 on it, but some idiot, as in me, stripped the mounting screw, so for now it's married to the 10/22. So I am wanting just a cheap scope or red dot to mount on it for now. Looking for recommendations. Second, for a beginner with rifles, would you recommend a red dot or traditional scope to start with. Thanks!

Neither actually. If you really are a beginner with a rifle...you should start with good old fashioned iron sights then move up to optics, IMHO.

If you want cheap, get NCStar. Its the cheapest **** they can put a lifetime warranty on. They are terrible.

I second this, but also recommend taking SMS's advice and get use to your irons first.
