Especially the one on my front gate when it’s this cold.
Surely an old Oily would know how to open a frozen pad lock.
Lock spray, or when it is this cold out, take a chance and just use a spring clip. Most thieves are weenies and will not be out at 0' with -15 wind chill trying to open your gate. JMO
The lock on my storage bldg. was froze shut yesterday. Applied some mini butane torch flame to the tumblers 2-3 times, then still had to hold the key twisted to the open position AND beat it open with a stick of firewood. Jeebus H. My gloved fingers were numb by the end of that exercise. I notice these temps numb my trigger finger first, then all other digits in just a minute or two. How do people function outside in this weather, for very long?
My wife has been complaining at the amount of water I have dripping the last few days, so she comes behind me and "fixes" it..... Last night before sleep we were discussing just that and I mentioned that we must keep the hot and cold faucets dripping....Then I found the issue. She only knew it came out of the same place.... NOT that it came in from separate pipes. It didnt take long to get her to understand that weird concept. But was funny for a few mins.
