Yeah, that pin is a real PITA! I gave up on punching it out pretty quick and just opted to buy a new gas tube. lol
I was lucky it had been swapped once before I got it so the tapco went on with just a little beating with a hammer but everything is nice and tight
I think that's what I'll do, just so I don't damage the original stock or gas tube. Plus it will save me alot of headache

Took my gas tube to work and the guys in shop drilled out the middle of the rivet with a drill press and the had to use a punch and hammer to get the rest out it was a stubborn sob. but now I have my sks complete with the 20 tapco mag and tapco stock.

There is an Easier fix. Buy the replacement gas tube with the guard already on it. Most people on the SKS forum say you usually end up destroying the stock gas tube changing it out.

I remember mine being a pain on my Yugo. I just wanted it off to refinish the stock and get ALL the packing grease off. I just pried mine off the sides of the roll pin then pulled it off. Hell couldnt tell if it was rollpined or riveted, any ways to get it back together took a little finangleing w/ the hammer and bending around but it looks pretty good still and holds just as tight as ever. Youll never see it while its installed anyways.
