It was reported that the stolen material was recovered about 1/2 a mile from where they found the truck. They've quarantined off the area to scrub it. The person doing the interview said that based on evidence at the recovery site, the two idiots that were carrying it are either very very sick right now and will be dead very soon, or they have already died a horrible death.

Cobalt 60 is a difficult isotope to work with. Chances are more likely that these two idiots were after the truck, saw something stored in a 'vault' in the back of the truck and figured it was valuable, so they took it and ran (for a while) - my guess is they are already dead from exposure.
