Why don't you flux the lead before pouring your ingots?

While we are talking about lead, have any of you guys used lead headed screws? They are screws usually used on a metal buildings roof, the head is lead but they are molded over a steel screw. Would there be a market for these?

I've thought about using sawdust when I melt down my scrap lead. I've found a cheap and abundant source of sawdust.

I know some guys who use wood chips.
Done it myself a couple times.
But I bought a jug of casting flux years ago and haven't used it up yet.
It doesn't take much.
Just a pinch.

I finished making ingots this afternoon , the grand total was 180 ,,,,, +/- 1 lbs ingots and about 2 gal of junk. Next up is to cast up bullets for my military rilfes -mosin,303 enfield,1903a3 .
