Recommend a safe free MP4 software program?

As the title implies, I'm looking to download a free MP4 program to a laptop. The laptop is a Dell with Windows 10. I use it for leisure/browsing; not for business.

There are a lot of free programs when I google such. Are they all "safe?" (I.e., no malware, etc?)

Yeah, figuring out which free MP4 software to trust can be tricky. I remember when I needed one for watching some videos on my laptop. I ended up going with VLC Media Player.
