I have a very good looking russian SKS. The finish glows an amazing amber in the sun. It has a few spots where the clear coat (?) has been worn or scratched off. Can I refinish the stock, or just the missing spots, and still keep that deep bright glow? Or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks guys and gals!

Try doing a Google search on SKS or Mosin shellac repair and you should find plenty of information on how to touch up the chipped / flaking spots. You can mix your own shellac with chips and denatured alcohol or you can use the pre-mixed Zinsser amber shellac (cut slightly with DA) from Home Depot.
