I just had to show this particular handgun off again, and thought I would share a few more pictures of it...

Barrel diameter is 1.200" and the barrel channel on this stock makes for an absolute perfect fit, with proper free float clearance...

With this stock being constructed the way it is, epoxy bedding is not required because it is NOT going to flex!

With the "solid" scope rings that were originally on this gun, meaning that they had no windage adjustment to them, with the scope being optically centered, the scope was off 34" at 200 yards! This means that you would have had to take a LOT of adjustment out of the scope and in fact, there would not be enough windage adjustments to put you on target out past the 300 yard mark...

By changing over to the Burris Signature ZEE rings, the scope could remain optically centered and the rings "inserts" could be used to set the scope at 200 yards, without having to touch the scopes adjustments. This means that if you want to sight your gun it at 600 yards or further, you have more than enough scope adjustments to do so, especially considering that the scope base on this rig is .040 tapered for long-range shooting...

When I saw the post about a butt stock on a XP 100 that sounded like a NFA problem , Rem come out with the 700 action on the XP first to avoid NFA problems about a pistol built with a rifle action ,or has things change after the TC contener question was settled?

I was also wondering about this, can someone educate me?

The original XP100 shared a common action with the Remington 600 rifle, not the 700 but it wouldn't matter as long as it left the factory as a handgun. Since the XP left the factory in pistol configuration, it can legally be converted into rifle configuration, however, you can't legally convert a rifle into pistol configuration without doing the NFA short barreled rifle paperwork. It is also completely legal to buy an action that left the factory having never been assembled with a barrel or stock and assemble it into a handgun.

None of this has anything to do with the TC Contender supreme court decision.

The TC case considered the legality of converting a contender handgun (Contenders were not available in rifle configuration at that time) into rifle configuration through the use of a "carbine kit". The SC held that the NFA did not prohibit the conversion of a pistol into a rifle. After TC started offering the Contender in rifle form from the factory, the BATF correctly ruled that converting a factory produced contender rifle into a handgun required registration as a short barreled rifle. In 2011, they changed their minds and published this ruling or opinion.
