Does anyone own or have shot a Rock Island 6in 10mm 1911, if so what is your opinion of the quality of the pistol. Is it worth the $1000 price tag.

A Rock Island for $1000, NO! RI makes a pretty good pistol for $500, but no way for $1000. You can by a Delta Elite for that, or if you look a Peter Stahl Springfield Omega.
