Is a 22/45 a different cartridge than a 22 LR or just a model designation? I ask because I'm thinking of getting a Ruger of some flavor. Is there any functional difference between the Mk 3 and the 22/45, or is it just the grip style/angle?

I have both models; a Target Model MK III; 5.5" Barrel and 4" Barrel 22/45. Although they do have different grip angles and controls, they share a lot of the same features and some parts are interchangeable. Both are top-quality rimfire pistols. My 5.5" MKIII has thousands of rounds through it and is smooth as butter...the 22/45 is LNIB and still needs lots of break in time. They are very well built pistols IMO. Very accurate, very reliable, not ammo sensitive.
