Model 27 is the Cadillac of the older Smiths. This one appears to be a 6” or 6 1/2”. Look again at the model number. Is it 27, 27-1 or
27-2? If it is a 27-1, you have a most desirable and valuable revolver.

But what has me puzzled is the lack of the 4th screw at the top of the side plate. It appears to have the 5th screw on the front of the trigger guard.
The top side plate screw would be the 5th screw on the N frame guns. S&W did away with the 5th screw in '56/57 so they became "4 screw" guns. Model numbers began in '57/58 so this gun here is a Model 27 (no dash #). The S20xxxx puts this one probably 1959/1960.
