Savage Rascal???

I'm wanting to buy a .22 rifle for my 9yr old son for Christmas. After looking online at different options I'm thinking the Savage Rascal may be my best bet. I'm looking for feedback on this gun by those who have one or suggestions for another rifle. Thanks

I'm not familiar with that gun, but my 10 year old does well with the basic Ruger 10/22. I like the fact that there's plenty of aftermarket goodies for it for the future, if he wants to go that route.

The Rascal is not a bad choice, but I prefer the Remington 514

I have several for my basic rifle classes and they work for youths and adults.

Both have the accutrigger, both about 4 lbs, both have 2.5lb triggers.

Length of pull is 2" longer on the 514 (13.75").

514 is about $25-$30 cheaper on average.

I will second the recommendation of the 10/22.

Yep I would go with the 10/22 it can be changed to grow with him and a good gun to learn on and an easy sale if for whatever reason when he gets older he needs some quick cash, although I would never sell the one my pops got me years ago
