FN 49, MAS 49, or Ljungman qualify for the poll? Probably not the best (I like M1s and M1As myself), but I would like to have a SAFN.

Yeah, but a MAS 49, besides the ones issued to the FFL, might be a heckuva deal.

Those go for about $1,000 on GB. Atleast a couple years ago they did

It depends on the variant - early or late. I've seen two such rifles, and both were the early variant. The late variant, which I'd want, tends to cost a bit more.

Amen.. That is one awesome machine. Also, I think if the sig 550/556 was as cheap and common as the AR15 then it'd probably be way up there or even on top.
