SKS Not Cycling

Took my new-to-me Yugo SKS to the range today for the first time. The action would not cycle. I had to manually eject each spent casing and release the bolt to load the next round.

I was shooting WPA ammo.

Anybody else run into this problem?

Obstructed gas port? Something preventing the piston from moving (bent/cruddy)?

I'm certainly no expert, but it sounds like the bolt isn't getting enough "push".

Make sure the gas valve is in the 'down' position. If you get weak or partial cycling, most likely problem is a worn gas valve, common problem. Easy fix is the paper clip fix. New stainless gas vales are about $20.

Yugos are notorious for corroded gas tubes.

What the others said....cruddy gas tube or switch is in wrong position
