sks optic mounts

i have a norinco that im looking to make more tactical, but im looking for a new receiver cover to mount optics on. I did buy one but its complete garbage after several hours of filing and milling i got it to kinda fit but the bolt hits it and the hole that the pin that holds the cover on need to be filled and redrilled so im gonna cut my losses and get a new one. does any one have any suggestions on brand or even where to find one?

I have never seen a receiver cover scope mount that worked.

Why have they not worked? Are they just all garbage or could I get another cover and have a mount welded on?

Most of the ones I have seen are really light weight and seem very cheaply made. They may be good for occasional range use but I don't think they would stand up to heavy use.

What about the welding idea? Also if I go that route is there any where local I can get a receiver cover, I don't want to weld up my current one

Yeah if you could probably find a receiver cover at a gun show and have someone weld a rail to the top of it. It would be alot better than an aftermarket one
