Consider this, in the long run the Colt will be worth more in a few years than the S&W. have the lockup tightened on the colt and keep it.

How much do you think it would cost me to have the lockup tightened?

I think for your purposes the Smith makes a little more sense. The Colt could pose some problems down the line because there are not too many smiths working on them, and Colt will charge a lot if you send it back to them to do the repair.

If your worried about your wife, I would keep the Smith since the Colt is lighter and will have more recoil.
