I am shooting J&K 147 gr lead bullets in my 9mm. I have good accuracy out of titegroup but lots of smoke and really dirty guns. I have heard that Solo 1000 burns much cleaner. Anybody got a favorite load in this? Lance?

Yep. Solo seems to be the #1 lead bullet powder and Winchester WST as a backup over on Enos. I really like the WST. Little smoke, clean and soft shooting. Check the Enos forum and you'll find all kinds of load and chrono data.

If you happen to have any WST I run 3.4 grains behind the J&K 147 loaded at 1.110" OAL, mixed brass, any standard primer you can find.

Edit: Chamber check that OAL in your gun to make sure it doesn't touch the lands. I run them in an M&P 9Pro.

I haven't worked anything up yet, but I'll load the J&k 9's after Double Tap. Trying to stay on my Single Stack .40 till then.

If you get a chance to load some let me know where to start... And Brian Enos is the place to go!

Chrono'd some test loads tonight with J&K 147 cast bullets. 3.0 gr was too light...750 fps. 3.2 gr was 875-895. I am cranking it on up to 3.3 and that should put me over in moinor power factor cold weather and all. Just thought I'd pass on the info.

Thanks to Shadowrider and Mitch of J&K I recently switched over to WST for 9mm and .40 S&W. Much less smoky than Titegroup, soft shooting, and great accuracy. Titegroup loads hot enough to make power factor with lead bullets were tumbling. My theroy is that the TG is so hot at those velocities that it was burning part of the bullet away causing all kinds of trouble. I do still use TG with FMJ's for the subsonic ammo use with supressors, it works very well for this application.

Here's my load data and chrono results with J&K and different powders. I wasn't real crazy about Solo 1000, it was still pretty smokey and snappy IMO.

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 3.4gr Titegroup - Average Velocity 945 - PF=138,915

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 3.2gr Titegroup - Average Velocity 908.2 - PF=133,505
Both groups were tight and recoil was a tad snappy however, very smokey.

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 3.2gr Solo 1000 - Average Velocity 856.3 - PF=125,876

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 3.4gr Solo 1000 - Average Velocity 884.3 - PF=129,992
3.2gr load shot high, 3.4gr was pretty tight. These seemed to be the most snappy and 2nd in smoke behind TG.

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 2.7gr Clays - Average Velocity 843.7 - PF=124,023

G17 - Lone Wolf Barrel - 147gr J&K LFN - CCI Primer - 1.10 COL - 2.9gr Clays - Average Velocity 865.1 - PF=127,169
By far softest shooting and least smokey. 2.9gr shots were all high and 2.7gr were closer but a bit high. Would be a nice load if it could be dialed in, will try some @ 2.8gr

I'm glad you like it. I know Mitch's Glock really likes the WST, that group he shot of my loads was downright impressive. So I take it your tumbling problem is gone? Fingers crossed...
