I'm surprised I remember as much about them as I did, since it was at least 50 years ago that I had one. Probably more than that. But the hook is a better choice for cutting parachute shrouds, and the blade is what pops out. I could use one of those again. Orange handle would be a bit easier to find these days.

I've had a few and honestly, threw them away or refused issue. There aren't any parachutes in helicopters so never needed one of these knives but always carried a sharp pocket knife.

When I was a kid I found one. Carried it for a long time, but eventually lost it. I think mine was made by Schrade.
