Split magazine!

Well the darndest thing happened today. Went out and shot my 45 and put 8rounds in a newish Wilson Elite Tactical magazine and twice in a row the slide failed to go into battery.

The gun was just cleaned so I knew that wasn't the problem but I pulled the mag out and where it was welded it had split open towards the top.

Has anyone ever had this happen before?

Never had it happen to me, but call Wilson and explain the situation. I'm sure they will be very interested in examining the magazine and a replacement will be no problem.

What 1911user said. Might have gotten a bad batch or maybe it was just a fluke and one got passed the QC.

One thing you gotta remember is that mags don't last forever, especially if you use them hard (like in competition). Of course, if you say they are newish, then you may have just gotten a fluke because Wilson's quality control is very good, so I am sure they would be interested in seeing this one.

I'm sorry to hear that. You should give Wilson a call and I'll bet they'll fix you right up.
