Most any bird is edible, not necessarily palatable, but edible. Because of flight and blood flow required, they will be dark meat. About the only bird I would shy from would be a buzzard, but then we eat turkey and chicken, just a mind set. And then again, SHTF / hunger pains would probably be the biggest factor.

When I was kid, Papa would have us sit in the mulberry tree and shoot robins with our Daisy Red Riders and be careful not to shoot our out. Grandma would catch us and whoop us. Then she would 'make' Papa have us gather and clean them for supper to teach us "we shot them, so now we eat them'. Then, as further punishment, we would have to pick mulberries for a pie. She never broke us from shooting robins. Grandparents have the best punishments. So I have been told by MY grandkids. :spaghetti:
