This is an intelligent and POLITE criticism of the chief's position.

Many who post here should learn from it.

Of course "politeness" should be be observed when engaged in civil discourse. The problem is, who gets to decide what is polite and what isn't. When is it just one persons opinion of what is polite? And at what point does it become an attempt to POLICE someone elses idea of freedom of expression?

In the public debate over gun rights, politeness by the pro-second amendment side is a very good idea.

Whenever a pro- second amendment person one loses their cool all the anti's have to do is point and say, "They are hot heads and we are cool, reasoned people - which side are you going to believe?"

Don't lose your passion, but be sure it is funneled in a productive direction.

If you have to ask, it's probably pointless.

Most learn manners pretty early in life so if you don't know, it's probably best to simply keep your mouth shut or stay away from the keyboard.

When people like Chief Citty get put into positions of power, THEY are the ones who need to learn to be polite and stay in their lane. His opinions on gun control are every bit as meaningless as a movie star's. Unfortunately, people who don't know any better will look at him and beleive what he says, due to the office he holds.

Sure, be polite, be professional, but don't be afraid to piss people like him off. He's no better than any one else.

The Chief's comments and opinions are arrogant, ignorant, and offensive to free and law abiding citizens...In regards to expressing myself about it, I don't need to be polite in the face of that nor will I be told to be. Now if I was engaged in an actual debate with him, civility would be called for.

In the American Revolution the patriots fielded civilian artillery and even had civilian ships armed with guns.

Similar situations played out during the American Civil War.

Nobody turned to a man fighting for his cause and said "You really don't need that cannon."

We should stay together on it.

Mr Russel made a commendable effort on behalf of all of us.

Be polite, be a good example, you can't influence people by tearing them down or telling them to shut up. You can lead a rope rather easily, but it is pretty complicated to try to push it.
