stevens 76A help

so i bought a stevens .22 76A simi auto from a pawn shop the other day and i have taken it to the range three time now and all three time it has jammed up.and jammed up bad enough that i had to brake it down and to get the round out. and it also wants to shoot 2 or 3 rounds at a time. dose anybody have any ideas on how to fix it

Maybe the sear has been tinkered with (edit: "botched")? I'm no smith so I really couldn't tell ya. But I'd be carefull with it shooting several at a time. From what I've heard that could land you in some trouble and be considered an unregistered full auto (but please correct me if I'm wrong). Take it to a gunsmith if you want to invest the money into getting it even looked at. I'd probably just take a loss considering you hopefully didn't pay over $150 for it and it could cost a bit just in shop time to get it looked at and fixed.
