We went down to the Blue River fishing area and had a good time. Kids are up for camping again....

Two days and one night in camp area one, very few people down there-maybe one or two other campers in the whole area- saw the game ranger drive by once, most camp area surrounding areas are overgrown and you can't see the river from the camp grounds so the area we picked was nice and close to the river vehicle crossing, on the north side of the river. We could see our camp up the 30 foot embankment from the rivers edge. We had a 20 wide beach area to fish from.

Saw lots of small fish that nibbled our bate, the big fish seem to be well fed as they were not biting... We used worms, stink bait, lures, and flies. Saw lots of turtles sunning themselves, heard MANY and saw ONE OWL! Man the OWLS will wake you up they were so loud..the river sounded like a highway next to a hotel, rushing water kept us from hearing any coyotes howling..... Did not see any dogs, coyotes, or mountain lions..only a big BARN OWL from about 50 feet away high up in a big oak tree checking out our camp fire. Thought we heard an ELK (???) early just after sunrise calling out south of our area. It was either an ELK or BIG FOOT.

Brought our own fire wood and stopped by Scotty's shop to buy bait on the way in. He said Nov 1st it will be busy due to them stocking trout and the trout fisherman.

Oh it's 250 miles round trip from Norman.....Very sporatic cell phone connection at the camp site.

Flying M Ranch in Inola has some camp spots and they also have 30 stocked ponds that you can fish with your stay. Eat all you want during your stay but if you take fish with you they charge by the pound.
