People should read about the case before commenting. These people weren't government employees until the state decided to change the law and declare them so. By the logic the state is using, they could declare doctors who take Medicare patients union employees. They could declare people who get Medicare disability union employees. Heck, they could declare anyone who gets any money from or through the state union employees.

So does this mean I should be able to get all the benefits of NRA membership without paying their dues?

As a gun owner, the NRA represents you and lobbies on your behalf whether you are a member or not (for the sake of argument...)

As a gun owner, should you be forced to pay NRA membership fees? Of course not. Therefore your argument/example is self defeating.

Yep - when "right to work" passed (remeber everyones wages going up, like was promised?) a big chunk of the lowlifes at the glass plant opted out of union dues, which in and of itself is fine, but....those same bottom feeders still want union representation. And the law says they get it.
Real "independent" folks, they are.
