Tailgate ramp that doesn't chew up the tailgate?

My current tailgate ramps chew up the tailgate. Metal lips that dig into the tailgate.

Any of you use tailgate ramps that don't damage the tailgate?

Could you put a towel or carpet under them?
If the opening is too small could you grind it a bit larger?

I never had any tailgate ramps unless you call wood boards ramps.
I do have trailer ramps though. Not for a truck tailgate.

I think I saw some ramps at harbor freight that were metal but the couple collar that connected tot he tail gate was a hard rubber

Yep take an old truck innertube or old truck bed mat, and cut a square out, glue it to the metal with some gorilla glue.
