At least until the end of the 2023 athletic season. Then the conference will actually be the Big 12.

BYU joined on June 30th, and Houston, Cincy, and UCF joined on July 1st.

Of course, with the rumblings from the PAC-12 saying Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah could be joining in the near future. They actually have to change the name.

I dont think they gain much from those 4 PAC 12 teams.

The main thing they will gain is breaking into the Mountain/Pacific Time zone. The Big 12 could then schedule games in the Eastern, Central, and Pacific Time zones all in the same day. That would create a huge media package deal that would be worth millions for the conference. Something few other conferences can do.

The ability to schedule those games doesn't mean much if you don't have the teams to draw the audiences.

True. But inversely, having a lot of good teams means nothing if a large number of fans (west coast) have to get up at 7:00 am on Saturday to watch a game.
