I just picked up a Schmidt from Allan Armry for like $235.
97%, matching number, name under buttplate, sling.

Don't think he has many more in that range.
He does have a few not quite as nice right now.

The price's we've all hit on here are better than what you'll chase on GunBroker or Guns America. Ammo is still fairly easy to find too. Besides the military surplus round, the loadings by Privi, S&B, and Norma are reloadable, and just as accurate as the milsurp.

What do you guys think of these? I ask because I really don't know much about them and I have some interest in purchasing a WWI era rifle and wonder how they compare to the others in their price range...Enfield, Nagant, etc.?

How does the ammo compare?

Even a beat up K31 is a work of art. As for those beaters, the Swiss didn't fight any wars but they weren't afraid to drag those K31's through the Alps. And "beater" usually means just the wood; the metal is usually in excellent condition.

Ammo used to be quite expensive for surplus but now everything else has caught up and surpassed it in price.
