I am interested in getting a thermal rifle scope with a budget max of $2000. I know very little about them and was hoping some of you would share your knowledge or point me in the right direction.

I would be using it for hog control.

Can't do much with that but there are some solutions that aren't too janky. You might not be happy with it, but it is what it is.
How far are you planning to shoot and do you need to ID the difference between hogs, dogs and cows?

This is about the cutting edge of cheap. You go any cheaper than these two companies, it's like going to the south side for a girlfriend.

AGM and IRay both use Chicom FPAs but they are really good.

Doubt I would shoot more than 100 yards.

Wouldn’t be around the cows. Dogs shouldn’t be on our property.

If you’re not set on a thermal, check out Sightmark Wraith. It’s $500, but like JEVapa said, it is what it is.

And you can still go to the south side and have a little extra to get a girl friend! LOL

It stands for Focal plane array. I think It’s the instrument of light/image detection, more or less. Someone more knowledgeable may say otherwise
