Well I hope with 17k in repairs its good to go. Been reading about all the diesels. I hear good and bad about the 6.0 . I wish they would put the 5.9 cummins in a different truck. All my buddies dodge trucks just fall apart. Diesel and gas trucks.

The perfect truck would be a Super duty Ford with a 5.9 cummins..

I have a 2006 F-250 with 120k miles on it, replaced 2 injectors and an alternator since new, Egr delete, no programmer and oil changes every 4k miles.

I have a 2004 F-550 work truck with 440k miles on it, replaced original engine at 380k miles, Egr delete, no programmer and oil changes every 4k miles.

They are not bad engines if you keep the oil changed, Egr delete and don't put a programmer on them.

I had a 7.3L Powerstroke. I liked it. Ford just hasn't made a dependable diesel in a decade. That's why they keep having to change designs every 4-5 years.

How many 6.0l's have you owned FullAuto? Ford left the 7.3l due to the EPA. And yes many of them were chronic. If the 6.0l has had the egr delete, head gasket, and studs, and it's what you want, I wouldn't be afraid of it. Turned 315,000 miles on my 2003 6.0l tonight on the way home from hunting. Original tranny, turbo, head gaskets, studs, wiring harness, 4 original injectors, blah blah....race and rev them and they'll break, work them and take care of them and they'll last. Oil cooler gave out at 300,000 miles, had the egr deleted while the cooler was being changed out. 285,000 on a 2002 7.3l exursion.

A good friend of mine was a Ford mechanic and loved the 6.0 Said it was the best job security out there. I have a 2007 2500HD Duramax with close to 170,000 miles on it and just last week I changed out the idler pulleys, other than that it has never been touched. My 06 GMC 2500HD Duramax just hit 233,000 and has had a water pump, fuel filter housing, idler pulleys, and some front end work at 200,000 miles. You could not run fast enough to give me a Powerjoke!!!!
