I watched it on a 14-hour flight from the Middle East. I found it pretty entertaining. Much more than The Ides of March. And much less predictable.

It seems like, to thoroughly enjoy the movie as I did, you'd have to had read the book first. Only by reading the books can one really understand and grow to admire George Smiley. Here is a career spy who bested the KGB through pure intellect and systematic analysis. Smiley is a unique character that takes some time to warm up to.

Extremely slow, but a solid movie. A lot of scenes didn't have dialogue, but they were outstanding even without it. It was a bit slow for me, but I did enjoy it. Great cast.

I liked the The Good Shepard better
