Without even reading your post first, as someone who has spent ALOT of time in Montana, this looks EXACTLY like montana to me, and that kind of behavior would not surprise me up there.

Most say Oregon but who knows anymore? There was also a posting somewhere that said it wasn't a ranch at all, it was Forest Service property and the cows were about half feral.

I grew up in Montana and it does take me back, there's just not enough black cows to be Montana

I gotta say, those are some tasty looking cows, I can't really blame the bear.
Been in that area between Tulsa and Bartlesville a zillion times. Never saw a pine forest in that location.
Kind of like the mountain lion pics from Woodward a year or so back where the lion was at the back door of a house.

Aspen trees = Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, etc.

Are those birch or aspen trees? I thought they were birch.
I do believe there are aspen's in parts of Oregon, northern California, Washington, and Nevada also. But, does anybody really care where it happened? They are cool pics, be nice to be armed with a camera when something cool happens with the wildlife.
There's aspen trees from Alaska to Mexico, and all the way to the Atlantic. Anywhere that its cold.
