The first is an Aero Precision Enhanced upper FDE cerakoted, the other choice is a Nickel Teflon upper. The plan is the stock, lower and rail will be cerakoted to FDE, and the upper if not Nickel Teflon.

So the question, is the Nickel Teflon coating really that good and does it really save that much time and effort in cleaning, and how durable is it versus a standard upper with cerakote?

Building my first AR and trying to figure out how to go thought I had the upper figured, until a ran across the Nickel Teflon upper.

Thanks for helping a noob with stupid questions, and thanks for any and all input.

Use caution on the Forum stuff......but maybe you'll pick something useful out of it.

Dependent upon the base material/metal - Melonite/qpq/isonite, NP3 / NP3 Plus, and Cerakote done right would be the (3) top finish(es) or Metal TREATMENTS for wear and/or protection.

So your on a good road, just stay on it. IONBOND is good too, Prep of material is key, just like anything above......but I still prefer the 3 above even though I have an IonBond'd tool.
