wanting to change my Savage to a different caliber

I'm wanting to change my Savage Model 11 (short action) 270 WSM into a 6.5 x 47 Lapua. What all do I need except for a different barrel?

Headspace gauges, action block, barrel wrench, and a good vice mounted on a good bench. That's it.

Yup, make sure the caliber you are coming from and going to use the same boltface or you will need to change that too.

These calibers use the same (standard size) bolt face.

Oh, my bad, I don't read well sometimes.

Your WSM uses the Magnum bolt face and the 6.5 uses a standard bolt face, AFAIK.
