I never will forget falling asleep while watching that when on leave right after graduating at MCRD. Everyone in the room looked at me like I was crazy when I jumped to my feet at the position of attention when a scene came on with reveille playing and the DI waking everyone up.
I had never seen the movie until after basic training. My DI kept caalling my battle buddy Pvt Pile. Some of the guys in my squad had to explain it to me. I remember watching the show for the first time thinking that was as about as close as one can get to basic training
