What gun and load are you guys using this dove season???

What gun and loads are you guys gonna use to dove hunt with this year???

Gun - I just purchased a new 12 ga. Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon I Sporting O/U with 32" barrels...

Ammo - Atwoods had Fiocchi 1 1/8 oz. game loads for $6.99 a box, so I snagged a full case of them in anticipation of this years dove season...

All I have is my Browning Maxus 12ga w/28" barrel. Gonna have to do.

IF I get out will be my browning bps 20g upland with whatever 7 1/2 shot game loads I have in stock.

To date I think all I've taken with it is limb chickens....

If I get to go, I'll be carrying the O/U I just bought. It's a TriStar Setter S/T 12-gauge, 28-inch, Turkish made. Been out to shoot it once ... round of skeet (which I had never shot before) ... to provide comic relief for a couple of other OSA members. I'll probably be shooting handloads (1 1/8oz. #8's). HOWEVER, FYI - I was in our local WalMart yesterday and they had a boat load of Federal 7 1/2's for $4.94 a box!

I was at Walmart today, and picked up some of the value boxes of Federal 1 1/8, 8 shot. Four boxes for less than $22.

I'll probably start the season with a Pedersoldi SXS muzzle loader shotgun. Used it last year and took 4 dove, but they started coming in so fast, and loading is so slow, that I went with the Sweet 16 for the rest of the day.
The MZ will sure drop them, but you can't see it. LOL..

If I get invited to go, or get permission on a place, I will probably carry a Winchester SX3 and 1 1/8oz 7.5s. I don't like the crappy super speeds, so I bump up to the next grade.

I "like" that Mod 12 16ga. Only have a mod 12 in 12ga. Any idea how old it is? Mine is a 1928 vintage.
