This isn't really about hunting or fishing, but I have some coyotes out back. I live in Oklahoma City, and starting last weekend I began to hear numerous coyotes making noise in the field adjacent to my yard. It sounds like 4-5 of them are out there. Each time I hear them it sounds like they are quite close together, maybe bedding down. This is only at night or early morning, sunrise, when I hear them. I am wondering if there is anything that can be done to get them to move out of the area?
My yard is fenced, and our small dog goes out there to do his thing, then he goes back in the house. Since the coyotes came around I'm carrying my pistol outside just in case one tries to climb or dig under the fence to get the dog.
Since I'm in the city I can't go out to that field and start hunting/shooting them. On top of that, my wife heard from a neighbor the land is owned by a school, so that means no guns. There is no school on the land, but apparently the school district or city owns the land. I'm trying to find out who really owns the land, but I don't think there is anything I could do as far as shooting goes, being in the city.
Who would I call? Would the dog warden do anything? Call a game warden? Is this really anything to worry about?
