Typically when I hear people say "that's the risk you take" it implies that the consequences are acceptable.

so i guess everyone else has never done anything wrong in their past... i could see the "past" catching up with her if she lied to the govt years ago and no one knew til now, etc... but shouldn't it matter the type of person she is now, or should we all be defined by our mistakes??
She should sue the school and get her job back. The porn industry is perfectly legal and I'd rather see my young kid look at porn than do lots of other things.

This happened because people care more about societal imagine than anything else. The school would have never heard the end of it had the parents found out first.

Never mind all the good she's done and whether or not she is a good teacher. How is Mrs. Mom going to be able to show her face at the bridge game on Tuesday when all her friends now know her kids are taught by one of those sleazy porno-actresses.
On the surface they seem to express general concern about the moral character of the person. Beneath the surface they are watching out for their image.

You are right. I wonder why there is protection for discrimination against age, sex, religion, sexual orientation etc, but for some reason a previous, legal job can get her fired.
