Nope..the proposed law only allows handgun permit holders to open carry by editing the current Self-Defense Act. This isn't a "Constitutional Carry" law like Arizona, or Alaska.

Sorry but you are only half right. There are 2 bills that were introduced in the House. One is a copy of the bill from last year, Only allowing permit holders to open carry the other one allows anyone over the age of 18 to openly carry without a permit

43 other states allow open carry. Some require permits, some don't. So much bloodshed...

Any gun owner who opposes the unrestricted right to "keep and bear arms" is always suspect and prompts me to wonder if they have ever studied the history of bearing arms or the writings of the Founding Generation. Me thinks they approach this topic with emotion instead of fact.

Unless he's threatening you with his gun, he's not a threat to your life. As for the rest of that sentence, whatever.

Very poor choice of examples why OC shouldn't be legal. As VM posted, what about the experience of 43 other states that allow OC? Why should Oklahoma be more liberal that 43 other states?

I think we'd be better off banning fraidy cats from public areas..... and law enforcement. :D

the boat left and you were not on it.......

I have yet to see one valid argument other than citing the 2nd amendment that could even remotely convince me that OPEN CARRY is a good idea.

Most of us here have firearms backgrounds and understand what a responsibility it is to own and carry them. What about the other 95%? What to do about the guy who has no training and a nice "fashion gun" and a super crappy open top 0 retention holster buying coffee in a 7-11 in a bad part of town with his ipod blaring in his ears? How safe is that guy to be near? He is a walking weapon of opportunity to a BG.

are we going to require any restrictions on size of pistol type of holster continual training etc etc? or just let it go?

I am all for the 2nd amendment and our rights....but when unchecked they lead to infringement on MY right to LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT of happiness I get a tad twitchy....

I play devils advocate since I am one in everything I do

I like to play devil's advocate as well:
I assume you are police officer, therefore you open carry for living ... I guess "do as I say not as I do" feels pretty darn good. ;)
