I was letting the dogs in and I here 2 shots.

then 6-7 shots

1-2 seconds later, 4 shots of a smaller caliber

then 6 or so more from the larger weapon.

I call the sheriff, they send out like 7 cars, someone else called in as well.

I here 4 more rounds go off while I am on the phone with dispatch, and the deputy heard them too.

about 10 minutes go by and I have one more shot and then some banging around, kinda like big plastic trash cans being tossed.

I talked to one of the deputies, they also got reports of people knocking on doors.

This kind of thing doesn't happen often where I live, we are about 7 miles from town.

I have no problem with shooting, but 11 at night? Every once in a while I can hear some full-auto fire, but that is about a mile away, this was a few hundred yards away at best. Woke my youngest up.

It sounded like a full-on gunfight with the two different calibers going off. Put me on alert.

I'll bet. That's not normal in most circumstances.

I shoot the occasional armadillo after dark, but its not sustained fire.

Yeah, me too. I have shot 'dillos and coons after dark, but it was 1-5 shots then done. This was over several minutes with about 30 seconds of fairly heavy fire with at least 2 different guns.

I once saw someone empty more than one gun at a snake that was kinda caught in the bottom of a deep trench. The snake was tryingg to get out, but kept falling back down in it. The shooter is so deathly afraid of snakes, I saw him lock the doors (before they lock when start moving) and roll up windows because a snake was in the road, he swerved to hit it, then put the pick up in reverse and ran it over again. The rolled up windows and locking doors cracked me up. Yep he shot and shot trying to kill it.

Pretty common out where I live to hear all kinds of weird shite at night- yotes to gunshots to screams, lolll. Just have got used to it. Unless it comes down here near me then it aint none of my business. On weekends the local kids try to have their parties out here on these county roads so its not unusual to hear stuff going on with .22s or fireworks. I lived in Oakland CA in the late 80s early 90s, heard alot of gunshots at night there.

Worked with a guy once that was also very afraid of snakes, yet he moved out of the city to the country. One summer morning, some curious rat snake saw an open back door and stuck his head in for a little look around. My coworker kicked the door closed, trapping six inches of snake in the closed door (not a terribly bad move). Then, he picked up a shotgun (a very bad move). Well, he shot the snake and killed it. He also killed the door, the threshold, the door trim, an electrical outlet and wiring and some floor tile. But, that snake died during the first of several 12-gauge blasts.

Lmao! That is hilarious, because I can picture somebody doing that.
