Lot of studies out showing that traffic fatalities and the sales of Jack In The Box Tacos have increased where weed has been legalized. I don't think it's the Tacos .... Dude.

There are still the old-fashioned tests they used before breathalyzer technology. Inability to walk a straight line, stand on one foot, or touch your nose with eyes closed. Along with being disoriented, slurred speech, etc.

I've no doubt that an experienced officer can tell when a driver is obviously unsafe.

You do realize those tests have been proven to be very inaccurate, right?

I personally have known several experienced officers who "smell the odor of marijuana" on 90% of their traffic stops.

Some of the best 3-point shooters in NBA history practiced high as balls.

Weed ain't whiskey. Regular smokers shouldn't show obvious signs of impairment.

I have a friend that used to smoke regularly, and he says it affects your perception, even though you don't realize it at the time.

He'd be speeding down the highway (lol, usually going after snacks), and realize he was only doing 20-30 with traffic backed up behind him. He'd speed up to avoid detection, but said it felt like he was going 100 mph.
This is absolutely true depending on which strain your smoking and how much.
His thought process has also slowed down a noticeable amount (even to me) as he's gotten older, and he thinks smoking so much may be the reason. He's a few years younger than I am.
Maybe its just older age or maybe he should have used it in greater moderation?
Never smoked it myself (unless you count second-hand where the air was thick with it a few times), so I really can't contribute much.

Liquor always worked well enough for me.

Everything in moderation, not unlike liquor...

His decreasing mental acuity probably began around 40 or so. I've known him since he was in his mid-20s (I was probably 29 or 30 when we met). Really nice guy and a good friend.
lol, so did mine at 40 and I dont smoke. That doesnt sound unnormal in some cases. Everyone is different. Many things that you dont ingest that you should for brain health are likely more of an issue than using pot.

So ... if one is a "regular" dope smoker and smokes a lot of high octane weed, they should be able to shoot hoops and if they can drop a three they should be able to drive a car without any signs of impairment. Never knew.

Apparently the prosecutor in Denver thinks a rising crime rate and legalization are pretty well demonstrating what could be called by most, a "correlation".

Perhaps not surprisingly, Washington State and Utah are both reporting significant increases in numbers of fatal "accidents" with THC it in the victims system.

Who could have guessed?
