OK, I got hit by a bus the other day and was given 4K to spend on a gun (to not take the bus company to court). I’m trying to find a great range gun/EDC and need input. I hate Glocks or any really light guns. Don’t want a CZ, been there done that. I love accuracy and something I can put an SRO on (cause I’m old). So far I can only think of one gun, so I thought I’d ask for thoughts, anything come to mind?
FN is worth looking at I have a FNX45 that I really like but been thinking about getting one of their 9mm guns

Buy whatever you are comfortable with, then get the best one of those you can afford. I am comfortable with revolvers or 1911 style pistols. I switch between a 1911 in 9mm and a Garcia 380 that is very similar to a 1911. Both have the safeties, etc in the same location helping prevent screw-ups when under pressure.

OP have you ever carried a heavy pistol as a everyday carry?

That was my first thought as well,,,
Many moons ago I decided that I wanted a CZ-75B.

To justify the expense in my own mind,,,
I decided it would be my EDC,,,
What a mistake.

I carried it appendix on my hip for a few months,,,
Then tried a lightweight shoulder rig.

It felt like I was toting a boat anchor.

I don't regret buying it as it's a great range toy,,,
And so it wasn't a total waste for defense,,,
It lives in an Uncle Mike's holster,,,
Firmly attached to my bed rail.

The CZ was replaced with a Bersa Thunder 380 for awhile,,,
Before I settled on a Ruger EC9s in 9mm.

I can carry that thing all day under a Hawaiian shirt,,,
And hardly even know that it's there.

The only way I could comfortably carry the weight of the CZ,,,
Was inside my Gun Toten Mama's satchel bag.

Everyone is different in their tolerance for weight and bulk,,,
But I would caution the OP to give that some serious consideration.

If it were me that received a 4-grand windfall,,,
I would spend up to half of it on a truly spiffy range gun,,,
One that would shoot very precisely and inspire envy from all my friends.

Oh, it would also need to come in a very nice wood or leather case,,,
With dividers creating dedicated slots for accessories.

Then spend 400-600 dollars on a lighter midsize carry gun.

But that's just me,,,
Congratulations on your windfall.
