At least in Grady Co. OK. I cant speak for others.
We went horseback riding several years ago with a friend who had permission from her Aunt and Uncle. They met us out there while we saddled up. I had my dog with us and the uncle said I best leave the dog in the horse trailer because the wildlife dept. had set out poison for an over run of yotes.
That was likely cyanide.

I dont know, just knew it would kill my Rottweiler, so he got a bucket of water and stayed in the horse trailer. lol
We only saw a couple dead yotes but every poison bate site had a little red flag on it like a utility marker.

Yeah those were m-44 cyanide. Fed trappers use them.

Warfarin based poisons build up toxicity in the mammal over multiple feedings, unless a large concentrated dose consumed ar once. My point is the the dose that killed an animal is now concentrated in that carcass. So, as XYZ pointed out, any innocent &/or other pesky scavengers in the biome , that are not intended to be poisoned will be. Indiscriminate broadcasting of this poison will have both positive and unfortunately negative consequences . Two steps forward……
So when the other feral pigs feed on the carcass, they get kilt, too. Sounds suspiciously efficient for a gov't program.

nasty stuff right there.
100% effective and nearly instant death. BLM stopped using them but entities still use them.

Have to remember that there's a population of folks out there that treat any accidental animal death like "high crimes and treason" punishable by death. So while an accidental poisoning is possible, it was rare, but to the zero tolerance ground that was too much.
