How long will it take to spend $5,000 on gas with what she currently has?

Take that into consideration and figure out if it’s even worth getting another vehicle because then you’re out $5k plus filling up the new car with gas too.
He makes a valid point. Here is my mileage log numbers from my 21 Ford Explorer XLT. 28,000 miles so far and haven’t spent the $5,000 yet.

Plus the additional insurance and maintenance costs you gotta deal with on a second (or fifth) vehicle.

Lol bro I didn't even catch that, that's funny I'm leaving it like that.

This one we're driving now is a 2019, last one we had was a 2017 & before that a 2014 Hyundai Elantra.

The Elantra developed piston slap at 120k before that no problems 2016 & up Elantra are fine apparently there was a lawsuit ect ect anyway

The 2017 accent was perfect, son totaled on one weekend coming home. Had 120k + on it @the time. Only issue ever was a driver's door master window/lock switch

The 2019 has nearly 80k on it now. I am religious with oil changes on these cars, buy filters buy the case and only use Pennzoil ultra platinum because these are gdi engines and oil selection is important to prevent buildup on the valves. No problems with engines, transmissions at all & when this one wears out I'll buy another unless I have Toyota money buy then, yes 1.6 engines

I’m with swamprat. Find something Toyota and 4cyl. Camry/Corolla/matrix

Years ago I had 1996 geo prism with the all Toyota Corolla drivetrain. I had a job with lots of long drives. That car was awesome! Great gas mileage and reliability of a Stanley hammer

Here, but occasionally There.
Back in the '80's, my wife went for her degree in college, and Panhandle State University was about 40 miles one way from where we lived. We bought her a Firenza (Oldsmobile?) with front wheel drive, which I hadn't even considered. She put 40,000 miles in one year on that vehicle driving to Panhandle State. The front wheel drive was also very beneficial in that she had little problems with driving on slick roads.

Gave daughter ‘06 Hyundai Elantra w/20k in 2009. 2.0L engine. Has timing belt, not chain. Has 180k now with belt changed at 100k. Not pretty, but still runs

There is always he GSA fleet auction in OKC. I've seen small compact cars there, might be able to obtain a late model with fairly low mileage.
