True, but the 5VZ-FE was a 3VZ-FE with increased bore for more displacement. That equates into less head gasket surface for a block that was already prone to failures.
I would have to do some research but there's a lot of difference between the motors. The newer one is DOHC and has a timing belt. Somehow they seemed to have fixed the HG issues that plagued the 3.slow.

Here’s the 1991 F150
Notice the algae growing on the north side of the body and tires. It had been sitting for about a year.
Owner said they had been attempting to get it running but could not.
We took it and had it running in about ten minutes.
It’s got an injected 351 and it’s a tire burner..
I’ll get some current pics.

What ended up being the problem causing it not to run?

Drum brakes and an offset rear differential. Why would you do that to your truck? I'd be saving up to do the heads on that 3.0 when it blows the gaskets. They're notorious for it.
There’s a kit to make it all dish brake. The truck currently has drum in rear.
I was gonna make it a strict off road truck.
Probably never will just have the idea and axles from my old fj40.
When should I amd what should I do to the heads to keep it from blowing a gasket?

There's nothing to do. Just make sure it has good oil and coolant and doesn't over heat. I believe Engines with cast iron blocks and aluminum heads have more head gasket issues. They can't withstand getting hot as easily.

Once it does blow the HG what needs to be done?
Replace the HG and hope the head isn't cracked. I wouldn't worry about it though.

I would worry more about frame rust. The frames are boxed and trap dirt and debris.

There's a pocket where the rear shocks attach to the frame. They seem to rust there. I spray a bunch of oil in there occasionally. Fluid film is a great product for the whole frame. It comes with a 360 degree spray head for the inside of the frame.

Fender mounted starter solenoid had an open coil.
They had replaced the battery and it had 13v.
You could roll on the ignition switch and 13v was hitting the post on the starter solenoid but it would not close. Coil check read infinity so we gambled at that point and took possession of it.
Replaced the solenoid and it started right up.
My son has dozens of hours cleaning this rascal up, changing fluids etc. and the overdrive c6 is going to need built as it’s leaking transmission fluid at the torque converter seal.
Needs full exhaust so we’re going to install headers then pipe it out.
It’s going to be a cool daily driver for him soon.

Don’t sweat it at all. The dude was referring to the 3.0 which is the earlier V6 that did indeed have head gaskets issues. Your truck has the 3.4 which doesn’t have the head gasket issues. Your good for 300k without concern as long as you do basic maintenance and NEVER overheat it
