the switch to renewable energy would happen on it's own purely due to technology advancements reducing costs while increasing performance.
where the difference is .. time for it to actually happen .. tax incentives accelerates the economics and makes it possible to bring a new technology to the marketplace.

look at the massive $$$ tax dollars already poured into say A123 which did a belly flop with tax payer funded technologies ending up with Chinese owners. vs Tesla has already made it's technologies freely available to anyone.

what makes it all work is Tesla delivering a world class product!!!
like it or not the world is changing ... we've just had the HOTTEST July in history with more coming .. with scary things happening like MASSIVE frozen methane deposits getting released by global warming. etc. etc.

screw worrying about why global warming is happening .. let's worry about consequences what's happening right now .. permafrost melting is releasing all sorts of nasties .. from releasing mega huge deposits of methane to large numbers frozen deer carcasses that died from Anthrax and is now spreading, etc. etc.

if that happens .. planting millions and millions of trees may be the only way to save our climate from possible massive changes. of course switching to renewable energy which Tesla cars are but a small part .. what more exciting is the solar shingles combined with home storage .. which of course fuels Tesla cars.

Elon Musk has quite the forward vision!
A warmer planet can support more life than a colder planet.

perhaps .. but which life? and where? breadbasket zones would change, etc. purely hypothetical of course .. we are talking dinosaurs dying out type of changes. but look at how air conditioning has changed where folks can live. etc. to affect something large as planet earth, it takes something of equally massive scale ... which is why release of MASSIVE caches of frozen methane is soooo scary.

again .. forget why global climate change is happening .. it's hard to dispute what is happening on the ground, right now .. we've been setting record high temps, month after months. hottest month for long as records have been kept.

we may be part of a natural cycle like say what happened a few hundred years ago during the little ice age .. or what ever.
it's hard to ignore what's getting ready to happen with warming sea's possibly releasing a greenhouse time bomb.

again .. planting millions and millions of trees could negate a green house time bomb .. as could radically changing how the world produces energy. which is why this topic comes up with Tesla ... connect the dots ..

you make some great points, but there are people that believe all this stuff is made-up and therefore refuse to make changes

Although the latest computer models are predicting a colder climate in the future.
The computer models showing global warming were false, so they are going the other way. Back to the 70's ice age models.
BTW the glaciers have been receding since the ice age, long before man developed fire and started his carbon emissions.

if we keep on getting record breaking hottest months .. after months .. even folks who think this is all made up will know the weather is getting hotter and hotter.

ask the folks who know .. the farmers who will tell you weather has been hitting more and more extremes.

the good news is planting trees .. millions and millions of trees will absorb greenhouse gasses. planting trees and making sure our world stay green is something most of us can do with out much fuss.

my wood heated house is surrounded by a number of huge 5ft+ diameter/60ft tall Oak trees. then the 100 acres that I hunt on is heavily wooded with Oaks dating back to statehood ... so my carbon footprint is hopefully taken care off.

the bad news is I'm driving a 12v Cummins diesel truck .. would not mind getting a Tesla 3, but it may be quite a few years before the back log is cleared out.

Well, it'll snow sometime this winter, and everyone will laugh and joke about how that's impossible if climate change is real. Our kids and grandkids will be so pissed that we let this go so long.

:freezing::anyone::explode:What does man emit more of - carbon dioxide, methane, or water vapor? Which one of those contributes more to "global fornication?" (Can't call it warming due to the natural cycles of warming and cooling, and can't call it climate change for the same reason.)

Nah. I'll put $100 on it that our grandkids will laugh at the suckers who bought into all the fake "science" that promoted this stuff.

perhaps but probably not .. there's some pretty solid science behind everything. but like all complex topics there's plenty of room for disagreements.
that's why I purposely stayed away from what's causing our climate change .. it could be man made or not ..

what's not up for debate is the fact that climate change is happening right now .. we've been setting record after record for consecutive months for hottest month since record keeping started.

with warmer air mass and oceans comes melting of permafrost which releases all sorts of nasties. warmer waters expands so sea levels goes up .. witness the catastrophic flooding that hit Baton Rouge, La.
