If you don't have a lathe or if you have a lathe you need to be able to keep it concentric to .002 or better to the bore not just in front but the whole bore. It sounds easy but if you sit down and watch it done it takes some time to get it right, plus if a gunsmith messes it up your not out that nickle for a new barrel :-) Later,

As a reference my Savage 10FP was just sent off to Steve to have him wack 2" off of the barrell. HIs prices are right and he knows his stuff.

I would just make the drive to him, being he is in Jones it would not be that far from Tulsa.

Curtis higgins at S&h does good work. He threaded a barrel for me a couple months ago. I've been dealing with him for about 25+ years and he's a good guy. Plus maybe he'll let you see the cool guns and cans he's building.
