They claim to expand well subsonic. I'm willing to try whatever works. I'm not concerned with price as they will be for hunting. They just need to tear a fatal hole in a coyote at 85 yards without waking the neighbors.

Not if you handload, its the same bullet and process with different brass. You actually cut out a step...buying a whole 300 BLK rifle.

And I'm guessing you'd have way better powder selection for blackout subs than 308 subs. And as mentioned, appropriate twist so it won't keyhole.

True, but subs out of something you already have may make more sense in some situations.

If you want plinkers, I'd look into the Berry's spire point 220gr. Cheap and plated.

I have some SubX but never tested them. For hunting even with a can, I still go Subsonic.

If you poke a hole through a coyote it will die.
May not die within sight but a double lung or through the chest it is going to be dead.
I do not think you need to go to elaborate on the round.

You should be good to go with bullets in the 200gr range unless the barrel is short, but I'd definately do to testimg to confirm stability.
