Wife’s grandfather passed, I’ve heard about this pistol but finally held it today.

Story goes” it was taken from a dead German soldier during Ww1.” By his father. Anyhow I did a little snooping and it seems like it could be true according to dates.

Astra on the barrel, seems 1911-1915 from what I’ve found. Spanish made.

Looks like an Astra 300. Which would make it a possible WWII bring back, not WWI. Started manufacture in 1922.

The 300 was not formally adopted by the Germans but was purchased, the 600 was officially purchased too, and it did see limited use during WWII.

I did get some clarification and yes was WW2, I got bad info from several people removed from the origional story.

It’s a neat piece of history for sure. Not sure who will end up with it but I know it’s not me for sure. I just wanted to see it to appreciate it.

Thank you all for your help, I know zero about these but I guess I am somewhat schooled up on them now. I will follow it to see where it end up.

I've been watching for an Astra 300 for probably 30 years now. I've seen pictures but I've never seen a live one.

I had a 400 decades ago, it was stolen back in the late 1980s.

Nice piece. Who is going to end up with it?
I am currently on the lookout for one. Hopefully I'll find one at Tulsa in Nov. I've seen them there before, but never pulled the trigger.
