Hornady primer problem

Bought some Hornady .38 Critical Defense and first round was a DUD. Was shooting my S&W 642 and decided to try some of the "New" CD ammo so loaded up the old wheel gun and pulled the trigger and ...nothing Waited a bit pointing the 642 down range then proceeded to fire off the other 4 left in the cylinder. Then tried the Dud in the other chambers one at a time... no go... Anyway here's a pic of the round and box with lot #.

Kinda worried about using Critical Defense for Defense now....

Contact Curt Emary at Hornady CEmary AT hornady.com. I had the same issue with some .380 and they replaced it all. He tried to blame the gun and it kind of pissed me off but they made it right. I think it would be appropriate (read funny) if you talked to the exact same guy that couldn't admit it might be the ammo.

I still use the ammo it is good stuff.

I went to the Hornady site and left them an email and showed the pics. Will let you know how it goes.

That's what I did and eventually Curt called. I would skip the waiting and just e-mail him from the start. You will get a resolution quicker

Can you shack the round and hear powder inside?

Yep.. Its got powder.

Nothing. I just shake them to make sure powder is in there when it's not my reload. Definitely a bad primer. That would have sucked if he had to use his gun and that round was in there. At least its a revolver and you could have went to the next round quickly.
